Snow Week - Trying to get a Handle on Things

This week was a bit of a disaster. We were off 3 days for Snow and by the end of the week I wasn't feeling well. I did my best with the 3rd lab, but was unable to make it work. I think I would benefit from a video or being show step by step in person. I keep looking to my instincts to help me and they don't know anything.  The zoom about ossia score was helpful. Being over zoom, not feeling great, and having some trouble understanding made it a little fuzzy, but I think I at least have an idea how ossia could help me. Using the dots as cues for interactive data is super helpful. I enjoy that he showed us how to drop files into the score and then apply those data cues internally. The program seems like it will be super helpful to me once I get a better sense of it.  Do I need to connect it physically with my computer to send the code? I tried to use the USB but it was the wrong size, I tried to use bluetooth but it continued to send me error messages. I tried to plug in ...

Week 2: Breadboards and Ideas

Image
This week I got a refresher on some basic circuit board and electricity information. It was reminding me a lot of my robotic and circuit classes from the 8th and 9th grades. I also further refined my ideas for the first project.  Lab: Ac- Comes from the wall  DC- battery, can be adapted via a "wall wart" Important formulas:  voltage (v)/ current (I) x Resistance (r)  (cover the element that you wish to know and proceed accordingly) Power Triangle- Watts (P)/ Current(I) x Volts (E)  Amps is the amount getting through, resistance is the "clinched hose" space and volt is the power pushing the amps through.  I learned how to use the breadboard and completed the flashlight lab. At first my battery wasn't good so it wasn't turning on. When I switched to a different battery it worked. I appreciate the ease of using a breadboard for figuring things out and making circuits quickly without soldering.  Circuit for Lab: Resistor: changes how much voltage (power is...

Week One - Just Starting Out

Jan 10 2025  So far this week has been introductory. I acquired a notebook for this class and have installed the necessary software. I am interested in learning about how to use electronics for interaction, specifically in terms of sound, for my work.  We looked at EAT, the experimental arts and technology works from the 60s and 70s. We talked about the money from Bell Labs and Zirox. I am more interested in the "magical" aspect of using technology alongside art.  Interactive = Conversation  Reactive= Responds to Input  We talked about inputs and outputs, buttons, inputs and tried out the small electronics.  Messing with the lights.  Playing with the accelerometer.
